This 2-day /1-night tour from Fez to Merzouga is the ideal choice for discovering the magic of the desert in a short time. The journey begins by crossing the Middle Atlas, passing through Ifrane—known as the "Switzerland of Morocco"—and the Azrou cedar forest, where you can see monkeys in the wild.
You will continue toward the Ziz Valley—famous for its stunning palm groves—until you reach Merzouga, at the gateway to the Sahara Desert. There, you will enjoy an unforgettable experience with a sunset camel ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes and a night at a traditional desert camp beneath a starry sky.
The next day, you will enjoy a spectacular sunrise in the desert before returning to Fez, once again traversing unique landscapes and taking with you unforgettable memories of this Sahara adventure.
Itinerary
This tour begins and ends in Fez and includes one night in the Erg Chebbi desert in Merzouga.
Day 1
Fez – Ifrane – Midelt – Errachidia – Erfoud – Merzouga – Camel excursion – Camp.
We depart from Fez in the morning—after breakfast at your Riad—heading toward the beautiful city of Ifrane. Nestled in the Middle Atlas Mountains and known as the "Switzerland of Morocco" due to its Northern European-style architecture, Ifrane is where we will stop to visit the town center. Next, we will travel through cedar forests to reach the city of Midelt, where we will pause for lunch. We will then continue on to Errachidia and Erfoud, the true gateway to the desert. In the afternoon, we will arrive at the breathtaking dunes of Merzouga (Erg Chebbi), where we will switch from our 4x4 vehicle to "8x8" transport—dromedaries—for a camel trek. We will cross the dunes to reach a secluded luxury tented camp in the heart of the desert; there, weather permitting, you can admire the starry sky accompanied by the magical silence of the desert. To conclude this spectacular day, following dinner, we will enjoy a "drum party"—an unforgettable night.
Day 2
Sahara Desert (Merzouga) – Ziz Valley – Fez.
After a refreshing shower and breakfast at the camp, you will set off for Fez, traveling through the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we will pass through Rissani, Erfoud, Errachidia, and Midelt, stopping for lunch and to photograph the wild monkeys in the cedar forests of Azrou before arriving in Fez; there, we will drop you off at your Riad or hotel, marking the end of our magnificent journey from Fez to the Sahara Desert.
