Itinerary
This tour begins and ends in Marrakech and includes 2 nights in Marrakech, 1 night in the Dades Gorges, and 2 nights in the Merzouga desert.
Day 1
Arrival in Marrakech – Welcome to Morocco
We will pick you up from Marrakech Airport at your scheduled arrival time; to make the most of your day in Marrakech, we recommend looking for early-arrival flights. We will take you to your Riad, located in the heart of the Marrakech medina—very close to the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square and the city's great market. You will have the rest of the day or afternoon free (depending on your arrival time) to explore the city, visit its palaces and gardens, and wander through its spectacular medina. In the evening, you can dine in the square or the surrounding area. Overnight stay at the Riad.
Day 2
Marrakech – The High Atlas Mountains (Tizi´n Tichka) – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades Gorge
We depart from your accommodation in Marrakech at 8:00 AM, heading south across the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n'Tichka mountain pass (2,260m)—the highest in North Africa. We will visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the oldest in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage site. This location has served as the set for over ten films—including famous titles like *Gladiator*, *Ali Baba*, and *Lawrence of Arabia*—as well as series such as *Game of Thrones*. After lunch, we will head to the wonderful city of Ouarzazate (known as the "City of Cinema"), where we will stop to visit or take photos of the film studios. We will then travel along the "Route of a Thousand Kasbahs," stopping in the Valley of the Roses (the rose production season and festival take place in May, and there are unique cooperatives where we can stop), before continuing to the Dades Valley, where we will spend the night. Accommodation at a Kasbah hotel, with dinner and breakfast included.
Day 3
Dades – Todra Gorge – Touroug – Erfoud – Merzouga – Camel excursion – Luxury camp with air conditioning.
After breakfast, we will continue our journey to the Todra Valley and Gorges; we will explore the area and marvel at the impressive vertical cliffs—rising over 300 meters—that narrow as you move through them. We will travel through the groves of the Tinjdad palm oasis and visit the town of Erfoud, renowned for its marble and fossils (a visit is possible if you are interested). In the afternoon, we will arrive at the spectacular dunes of Merzouga (Erg Chebbi), where we will swap our 4x4 vehicle for "8x8" dromedaries. Riding them, we will cross the dunes to reach a secluded tent camp in the heart of the desert; there, weather permitting, you can admire the starry sky amidst the magical silence of the desert. To cap off this spectacular day—and following dinner—we will enjoy a "drum party" (an unforgettable night).
Day 4
Merzouga – Visit Nomads – Khamlia – Quad Route
Spend the day outdoors in the Sahara Desert, soaking up the peace and silence—an experience unique to this place. Today, we explore the Merzouga desert. We will tour the Sahara in a 4x4 vehicle, traversing the dunes, and visit nomadic settlements to experience desert life firsthand. Afterward, we will stop in the village of Khamlia to relax with tea while enjoying traditional spiritual Gnawa music (a genre with roots in Sudan, originating from enslaved people). We will then return to the hotel; after a brief rest, we will head out on quads, motorcycles, or horses for an adrenaline-filled ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes, catching the sunset from the highest peaks. Finally, we return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5
Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Draâ Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After a shower and a hearty breakfast, we will head to Rissani—a historic stop on the Silk Road and one of Morocco’s oldest cities—to visit its legendary market. We will then continue toward Tazzarine, passing through Alnif in the heart of the Mader Basin, before making our way to the magnificent Draa Valley, a region renowned for its date production and millions of palm trees. After a panoramic view of the valley, we will cross the Anti-Atlas mountains and finally arrive in Marrakech. Dinner and breakfast at the Riad.
Day 6
Marrakech – Airport transfer
After breakfast at the Riad, we will head to the airport, arriving three hours before your flight (Marrakech airport is one of the busiest, so allowing plenty of time is essential to avoid missing your departure). Once at the airport, our magnificent journey through Morocco and the Sahara Desert will come to an end; we hope you have enjoyed the tour and leave with wonderful memories and a desire to return for another travel experience in Morocco.
